AGARTALA, June 8 (TIWN): ‘No learned lesson’ from the Bishalgarh RD Block multi-crore scam has yet again brought an embarrassment for the Tripura Left front govt with a Junior Engineer of state rural development department recently axed from service over fund embezzlement Rs. 45, 95, 825 at Hezamara in the Sadar Sub Division of Tripura West District.Talking to TIWN on Monday the Rural Development department Additional Secretary C K Jamatia said, “I have issued a suspension notice to Junior Engineer after finding his involvement to the fund embezzlement at Hezamara RD Block.” He was identified as Gautam Debbarma.However, it has also been learnt that the Rural Development department issued a dismissal notice to at least five GRS in Baikanthapur, Surendranagar, Balurbandh and other Panchayat areas. And other 11 workers were either suspended or dismissed from their jobs after receiving an investigation report from DM (West).Besides, talking to TIWN in this regard DM (West) Milind Dharmrao Ramteke said, “I have conducted an investigation after finding an embezzlement of Rs. 45, 95, 825 at Hezamara in the Sadar Sub Division of Tripura West District.”He said that later after conducting the investigation to the scam the report has been placed with the state rural development department.However it is worthy to mention here that getting no lesson from the Bishalgarh RD Block multi-crore scam another such scam at Hezamara has once again brought an embarrassment to the state govt. and its rural development department.

State government lodged an FIR against a senior state civil service officer and 10 others for misuse public fund to the tune of Rs 17 crore in Bishalgarh block. 8 officials including a BDO Bimal Chakraborty were suspended for involvement and indulgence in corruption at block level in implementation of Central schemes.

The internal audit report of Bishalgarh RD block exposed misappropriation of government funds of Rs 2,22,21,964 without executing works against work orders issued under MGNREGS, PDS, TFC etc, purchase of bricks from suppliers without receiving bricks resulting in non-execution of works, generating man-days of Rs 4,06,89,117 utilized unauthorized funds towards material cost made to other people depriving job card holders etc.
