AGARTALA/UDAIPUR, June 7 (TIWN): On the one hand where many are dying after pushing Japanese Encephalitis vaccination in their body under a nationwide programme, on the other hand yet another lady is reported to be attacked with the virus of Japanese encephalitis at Udaipur East Gokulpur village.

The victim is identified as Chaya Sarkar at her 70’s.

Reportedly, for past many days Chaya Sarkar was suffering from the deplorable condition of her health and after a blood test she was reported to be attacked with the virus of Japanese Encephalitis.

Presently, she is undergoing treatment at AGMC hospital. However, the doctors said that she is in very critical condition and there is least chance of her healthy survival.

Panic gripped the area after Chaya was reported with the JE virus. It is to be mentioned that few days back a women identified as Halema Bibi died due to lack of treatment after she was attacked with the virus on May 11.

Japanese encephalitis mostly spared death or the devastating effects in children. There is no cure for the disease and many of them are left with permanent, life-altering brain damages. Vaccination is the only way to protect against infection. To stop the spreading of this disease, the district health department is spreading awareness, organizing several health camps in the area to prevent oneself from the attack of this particular virus.

It is to be mentioned that, Japanese encephalitis (JE) virus is a single-stranded RNA virus that belongs to the genus Flavivirus and is closely related to West Nile and Saint Louis encephalitis viruses. E virus is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito, Pig, primarily Culex species. The virus is maintained in an enzootic cycle between mosquitoes and amplifying vertebrate hosts, primarily pigs and wading birds. Humans are incidental or dead-end hosts, because they usually do not develop a level or duration of viremia sufficient to infect mosquitoes.

JE transmission principally occurs in rural agricultural areas, often associated with rice cultivation and flood irrigation. In some areas of Asia, these ecologic conditions may occur near, or occasionally within, urban centers. In temperate areas of Asia, transmission is seasonal and human disease usually peaks in summer and fall.

The vaccination programme for the deadly disease of Japanese Encephalitis appears to be a nightmare rather than a life saving drug. The report of the death as well as to falling sick after taking the vaccine has become a daily routine recently. Now question arises if the preventive vaccination is turning out to be life taking drug what is the solution to this life taking disease.
