AGARTALA, June 7 (TIWN): Despite Tripura Left front Government managed to set up the biggest power plant at Palatana, South East state and other of its kind across the state, a large section of people fumes over the load-shedding for an hours. Prolonged dry spell and increase of peak hour demand, Tripura has been facing a serious crisis of power for past few years.Making several promises before and after the installation of the biggest gas based power plant at Palatana, today the condition of the state in distribution of power runs under embarrassment as Palatana Unit I was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee and Unit -II by Prime Minister Narnedra Modi.After the installation of Palatana power plant several other power plants like The NEEPCO Monarchak Power plant, Rukhia power generation plant and other Power plants, the problem is persisting even today. As a result the entire state is being badly hit due to the power crisis and load shedding.Power crisis has come to limelight with the TSECL is allegedly reluctant to buy additional power from the Palatana power plant as well as from Monarchak power plant and due to this, power shortage has hit the state in summer's peak season. According to the highly placed source of the power department TSECL some way or other refused to buy power from the plant more than 70 MW.Besides, The NEEPCO Monarchak Power plant is currently generating 20 to 40 MW of power depending on the demand by the consumers. But according to the official the plant is suffering from a minor loss as TSECL refused to take power from it.Palatana Power plant had of course assured for load shedding-free state, but deplorable condition of the plant has brought a major embarrassment for the state govt. here.

As the temperature soared in, the power crisis has hit the state at large leaving the people face the acute scarcity of power. The predicament in the start of Power plant at the Palatana left the state under the dark cloud of resentment.
