DHAKA / AGARTALA, June 7 (TIWN): Saturday was very hectic day for India and Bangladesh Premiers as well for higher officials. Saturday was also hectic day for Reliance and Adani power companies .As both company signed 2 MoUs with BPDB (Bangladesh Power Development Board). On the 1st day of Indian Premier Narendra Modi s visit to Dhaka A number of deals have been signed including one for exchanging enclaves, ending the contentious bilateral issue that has been lingering since 1974. The two neighboring countries have also agreed for greater regional connectivity for the development of South Asia.Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said on the very 1st day visit of Bangladesh” the issue of sharing rivers should not become a source of discord between the two “fellow travellers” on the road to development before asserting that a “fair solution” to Teesta and Feni rivers is possible.” In a joint press briefing Modi said“Our rivers should nurture our relationship, not become a source of discord. Water sharing is, above all, a human issue,” Modi earlier met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and witnessed signing of 22 instruments and number of protocols.
A deal on Teesta water sharing remains beyond reach in his first year of office though it is his charisma that helped solving 41-year-old land boundary issue. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been seen as the main stumbling block for getting the Teesta water sharing deal inked.

And Modi in his speech also indicated that by saying: “I am confident that with the support of state governments in India, we can reach a fair solution on Teesta and Feni Rivers.”

He met Banerjee at her Pan Pacific Sonargoan hotel suite before meeting Hasina.
A flurry of engagements took place on the first day of the visit which is being keenly observed in Bangladesh for what he says about water sharing.

Before his statement, Hasina in her statement said they discussed sharing of all 54 rivers in a meeting that she described was “open and frank discussion”.
