UDAIPUR, June 6 (TIWN): More than 20 children are coming to the Dhon Tara Anganwadi center under Korbok Sub-Division, which is in very dilapidated condition from the last few months. But the students are used to sit and play in that class-room under perilous situations. The fund which has been deployed to run the center smoothly has been going to vain due to the negligence of the in-charge of the center.

The roof of the Dhon Tara Anganwadi has been in a poor condition from last few months. The condition is such that the roof may get collapse at any time. Interestingly, the Anganwadi in-charge Bishanna Jamatia after knowing the poor condition of the center remains silent putting the life of the children in danger.

Resentment brewed-up among the guardians, when negligence fumed regarding the life of the children. Expressing annoyance, the guardian said that they send their children to the center for their better future now the situation is such that sending children to the center has become a risk of life.

With danger lurking overhead and on every side when inside the buildings, children have no option but to bear the risk of life every time they visit the center.

The roofs of the Dhon Tara Anganwadi center are completely damaged and in dangerous condition which may collapse at any time.

“The children feel very uncomfortable to sit inside of the building due their life’s risk. We have been asking the in-charge to construct new buildings or to renovate the roof of the center. We are yet to receive a positive response,” guardians say.

Apart from this issue, the Anganwadi also faces problems in their mid-day meal. Allegedly it has been said that the center faces problems in the mid-day meal due to irregularity of the in-charge. The food items have been kept with the in-charge, so when she remains absent the children have to remain empty stomach.

“The food items remains with Bishanna Jamatia. So when she come to the center and give the item then only the food gets prepared otherwise the children had to stay empty stomach”, says the cook of the center.

When asked about the situation to CDPO Sanjay Tripura, he said he don’t know about it. As he came to know about it now he would further look in to the situation and also would take a proper initiative to solve the situation.

The government has established the Anganwadi centers to improve the health of children under the Integrated Child Development Services scheme. But children coming to the center in this area are risking their health due to the poor condition of the building and lack of availability of food”, people point out.

“If the situation continues, we may not stop sending our children to the center,” said the guardians.
