 TSPCB organizes World Environment Day

AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): A seminar on ‘Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care’ was organized on the occasion of World Environment Day at Sukanta Academy Auditorium on June 5.

The seminar was organized by Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB).

Addressing the discussion, the dignitaries stressed on the issue to take care of the nature which would secure their future. They also said that people must be cautious about the plantation and to keep the city clean. The nature is an important part of the earth; and to save the earth from various kinds of pollution people must take their initiatives to stop the exploitation of the nature.

Due to rise in the number of vehicles in the area, the percentage of pollution in the cities, are increasing which has been creating problem for the population. These may lead to various kinds of diseases as well.

They further stressed on the issue to keep the city clean which includes reducing the dumping of garbage’s into drains and the road. Next, they discussed on the acute scarcity of water faced by the rural Tripura and how to overcome the situation.

They also urged the students not to waste water unnecessarily as there are many areas in Tripura, where people are not availing with clean drinking water due to which they are suffering from various diseases.

During the discussion, Tripura State Pollution Control Board Chairman Prof. Amitabh Deb Ray, President of Tripura Board of Secondary Education Prof. Mihir Kanti Deb, NIT Registrar Sumanta Chakraborty alongwith other dignitaries were present.

Similarly, at on the occasion of World Environment Day Minister of Forest and Rural Development Naresh Jamatia and a team of officials planted sapling at Amtali Panchayat aiming to stop deforestation in the area.

Along with Agartala, the suburbs also have been celebrated the day by planting saplings along with an agenda to keep the city clean and pollution free.
