AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): CPI-M Candidate for 13- Pratapgarh Constituency, Ramu Das on Friday submitted his nomination in the District Magistrate Office. Before that a rally travelled all over the city and reached DM Office. On the rally, Deputy Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly, Pabitra Kar was also present to boost the rally.
Tripura Left Front announced the names of the party candidates for the by-elections to Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved 13-Pratapgarh, a couple of days ago. 13-Pratapgarh constituency fell vacant due to the death of veteran communist leader and longest serving minister of Tripura and sitting Vice-Chairman of Tripura Planning Board Anil Sarkar in February.
It is to be mentioned that Candidate Ramu Das (35) had attained the M.A and M. Phil Degree. He is also a party member of Tripura Scheduled Caste Coordination Committee. CPI-M had already started alarming campaign in the respective centres, On the other hand, meeting was held recently on the issue of investment of money in the respective by-election. The dignitaries present in the meeting were observer to invest in the Pratapgarh Constituency, P.C. Nayek, District Magistrate Milind Ramteke Additional District Magistrate cum Returning Officer of the Constituency, Manoranjan Das and SP of of West Tripura, Bijoy Nag, The committee had instructed to spend up to Rs 20 lakh for the election purposes. On June 17, 21 and 25 all the investment record will be checked.
By-elections would be held at Pratapgarh and Surma assembly constituency in Tripura on June 27. According to the notification issued by the ECI on Tuesday, the last date of filing nomination papers by the candidates from the both the constituencies is June 10. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is June 13. Counting of votes would be held on June 30, ECI notification. Scrutiny of the nomination papers would be on June 11. The ECI on its notification declared that the polling for by-elections would start from 8:00 AM and would continue till 5:00 PM. The elections shall be completed by July 2, 2015.
