AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): Most surprisingly, this year the renowned schools of Tripura couldn't able to occupy their space in the top 10 slot Madhyamik Examination 2015. Except Sishu Bihar H.S School and Tulsibati School, other renowned ones namely Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan, Umakanta Acedemy failed to achieve their position in the top 10 list.

Apart from that majority of places is being captured by English Medium schools leaving behind Bengali medium schools. However some students alleged that, it is not possible that Bengali Medium has no talented students who could rank within top 10 in the Madhyamik examination.

Tripura is often referred to as a centre for imparting good quality education and the home of renowned schools.   The schools of Tripura are known for its patronage hat has helped in discovering several artistes and thereby gifted several talented brains to the country. The students of these schools definitely have an edge over their counterparts in the other states of India.

But this year vice versa happened. While talking about Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan, the education offered by the school has a blend of cultural learning, sports and physical fitness teachings along with science, history and literature teachings. In the junior classes, emphasis is placed on cultural events along with academics.

Teaching pattern to attract the students from entering the Government school in Tripura is decreasing day by day. Having achieved more than 95 per cent literacy, Tripura is not resting on its laurels. The state government, specially the department of school education, is deeply concerned over “very low” attendance in schools across the state .Even the midday meal scheme fails to achieve the target.

Most surprisingly in the 1 year record, 1200 teachers were given punishment for not attending their classes regularly, but it failed to create any effect. 1381 teachers remained absent from the school without any proper notice in the three consecutive years. It has been observed that the government school teachers posted in schools located in remote and hilly areas usually engage proxy teachers.

They do it so that they are free to run some business or work at their preferred place. According to Tripura school education department, around 1,500 government school teachers were either suspended or other action was taken against them last year for neglecting their duties. Under the Right to Education Act, 2009, it is mandatory that every child who completes his or her education till standard eight be awarded a certificate as per the education department's format after conducting CCE at regular intervals.

In many of the schools it is found that teachers and non-teaching employees absent during duty hours and was forced to initiate drastic action to restore normality. However, Eighteen days of unauthorized leave of teachers had been legalized by the Government by issuing instruction that the teachers have to remain present in the school with an attendance of 95%. Such kind of instructions created grievances and whining among the teachers and academic sphere
