AGARTALA, June 4 (TIWN): Auto-Rickshaw union observed 23rd foundation day on Thursday at Nagerjala Stand.
On the occasion of the foundation day, a blood donation camp has been organized on June 4. During the programme, Member of Parliament Sankar Prasad Datta, also the General Secretary of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), General Secretary of Auto-Rickshaw Union Anjan Bhattacharjee, Dukli Divisional Secretary along with others had remained present.
During the blood donation camp, altogether 25 people have participated and collected 25units of blood as a part of social welfare.
While celebrating the programme, they also discussed about the fare hike issue. They said that the petrol price has been raised by triple amount comparing to the amount which was scheduled in year 2012.
According to the report, the petrol price reduced 5 to 6 time in these years. When the price of the petrol raises the Auto-Rickshaw union increases the fare within one or two days, but when the petrol price reduces the fare rate remains the same. No step has been taken to reduce the fare rate of the state.
These price hikes has been creating harassment for the common people of the state. However, the state government is least bothered about the problems faced by the common people.
