AGARTALA, June 4 (TIWN): One more case of molestation of girl was reported in the East Agartala Women Police Station on Thursday. However, police yet not successful to arrest the accused.
Police Sources informed that on Thursday morning, a 12 years old girl of Aralia’s Netaji Subhas Palli area was going somewhere for personal purpose. At that time, the accused namely Jatin Das (35) was passing over there. By seeing the girl, the ill motive of Jatin grew and he tries to molest her.
However the girl was successful to flee away from the spot. After reaching home, she informed all the matter to the parents and thereafter a case had been registered against Jatin. It is to be mentioned that Jatin is not a man of good character. Till now he had done three marriages, but put inhuman torture on wives.
After his immoral act, Jatin fled away from the area and still absconding. It is to be mentioned that, in recent Tripura, along with rape, dowry death and murder after rape, Tripura is becoming no 1 state in case of molestation also.
Though, in some cases, opposition tried to defame the character of a person, by making dramatic sequences of molestation, but on the other hand, the case is true enough. Data released by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) also shows that every second day a woman is raped in Tripura (as of 2012) with the figure of202 rape cases in 2012 alone.
The regional disparity is a sheer instance of shame for Tripura as 87 deaths have occurred, last year, due to dowry .While neighboring state Nagaland having not a single such death, as informed by the data source of Open Government Data (OGD) platform of India, maintained by Department of States of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India. Additionally, an alarming 375 cases were reported as regards assault on women with intent to outrage her modesty. 1147 cases were reported under the head Cruelty by Husband or his relatives (Under IPC 498A), in the year 2012.Not only the serious crimes like murders and women related crimes but the Police have also performed poorly when it comes to safeguarding the properties of people. A mere less than 35 % success rate has been registered.
