AGARTALA, June 4 (TIWN): Tripura state election commissioner has issued a notification for by-elections to be held in the state and Surma assembly constituency in Tripura on June 27. Talking to the reporters on Wednesday State CEO S. K. Rakesh said, “No nomination paper has been submitted on June 3 for the by-elections of 2 Tripura constituencies.â€
Rakesh told to reporters, "There are a total of 54 polling stations at Surma constituency where as 61 polling station have been set up at Pratapgarh constituency."
“Central paramilitary forces would be deployed here at the state for the by-elections, to be held on June 27,” Rakesh said.
By-elections would be held at Pratapgarh and Surma assembly constituency in Tripura on June 27. The last date of filing nomination papers by the candidates from the both constituencies is June 10. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is June 13.
Counting of votes would be held on June 30, ECI notification. Scrutiny of the nomination papers would be on June 11.
The ECI on its notification declared that the polling for by-elections in the mentioned state would start from 8:00 AM and would be continued till 5:00 PM. The elections will be completed by July 2, 2015, issued ECI on Tuesday.
The commission has decided that the voter’s identification shall be mandatory in the aforementioned by-elections at the time of poll. Electoral photo identity card (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter.
The model of conduct shall come into force with the immediate effect in the districts in which the whole or any part of the Assembly Constituency going for by-election is included, ECI decided.
It will be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the state govt. concerned. However the State Election Commission is entrusted to issue the notification for the by-elections on June 3, 2015.
It is to be mentioned here that almost all the political parties here in Tripura have geared up for the upcoming by-elections slated to be held on June 27, 2015.
