It has been known that Khowai Chebri’s CPI-M LCM Girindra Debbarma’s wife Biswhalaxmi Debbarma was undergoing stomach pains since 1 month. Two times she had been admitted to the Khowai Dist. Hospital. But as per the village people’s thinking, which is more based on false beliefs rather than medicine and doctors; instead of taking to the doctor Girindra Debbarma preferred to take her to a priest, who is very much popular for her witchcrafts, better known as “Ma Tripureswari”.

Not only this, talking to Girindra Debbarma, it has been also known that all the villagers strongly believe that the priest (who is known as Ma Tripureswari in that area) has been transformed into a woman(from a man) before 6 years by the blessing of God. So people of that area are very much afraid of her by calling her a “Dayeen” also; and she has created a strong supportive atmosphere around her that nobody dares to take any action against her.

According to the reports, Biswhalaxmi Debbarma was taken to Ma Tripureswari’s Asram at Jirania on May 30, where she was kept into a room for a whole day. Most interestingly Ma Trpureswari’s charge is not also less. Girindra Debbarma also told TIWN that he had to pay Rs. 20, 000/- for her wife’s treatment, the cash memo of which he also got.   

But when Girindra Debbarma went on May 31^st, he could get nothing but the dead body of his wife. The matter comes in limelight when her body was taken for funeral procession in traditional Hindu funeral system. As soon as her body was given on fire, all the internal organs of her body (close to the stomach area) come out suddenly. Immediately they took her body down from the funeral woods and they called for the doctor of Khowai namely as Arnab Debbarma(MBBS). Observing her body, he said that her kidneys were cut down very systematically which reveals that the work was not done by an ordinary hand, but by a trained one, which surprisingly can only be done by the professional doctors. Therefore it seems to have a connection of chain marketing trade, where doctor and other illegal traders may be involved.

According to the sources it has been known that a high official of Jirania Subdivision, sent a team (Non-officially) on Wednesday at Jirania Ma tripureswari’s Asram, but no local people including political leaders allowed his team to further investigate in this matter and villagers are unwilling to register any case against him. It is to be mentioned here if the political leaders of the state are afraid of such superstitions then no development of the society is possible in this state.
