Kanchanpur, June 3 (TIWN): On marking the auspicious occasion of “WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY” on 5th June, Centre for Forest-based Livelihoods & Extension (CFLE), Agartala in collaboration with Mars Socio Welfare Society, Kanchanpur organized a three day programme with the main theme of “Promotion of Forest-based Livelihood for Environment Security” in Kanchanpur Town hall on wednesday.

With the motives of bringing the ecological concern amongst the citizens and students CFLE arranged a “Sit & Draw competition” on the theme of Nature Conservation starting at 9:30 am for the students of Kanchanpur Junior Basic School and Kanchanpur Class XII School. A total of 155 students participated in the different batches and age groups

Subsequently in second session an “Essay Writing Competition” was organized on the issue of “The Importance and Speciality of Forests and Agriculture in Kanchanpur Area” which was actively participated by the students of Kanchanpur Class XII School. Furthermore, the staff members of CFLE, Agartala and Mars Socio Welfare Society encouraged the students for their active participating in the competition with great enthusiasm. The painting arts of the winners will be displayed the day after (June 04, 2015) during an event on “Farmers’ Meet and Consultation Workshop” being organised on the important them of “Promotion of Forest-based Livelihood for Environment Security”. The students and their parents were also invited to take part in “Tree Planting Ceremony” on June 05, 2015 on the World Environment Day.
