AGARTALA, June 1 (TIWN): With the illegal business in the name of admitting students in ‘C’ category colleges across the nation by a section of brokers and agents has become rampant in Tripura whereas the State Govt. here has been playing negligent role, the opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman on Monday accused State Minister for Welfare Department for his involvement in this illegal business.Barman was addressing the media at Congress Bhawan,Agartala. Barman said, “I have drawn the attention of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in this regard and written a letter particularly mentioning the name of his Cabinet Minister "Shahid Chowdhury".Adding to that Barman alleged, “Minister Sahid Chowdhury alongwith his other partners comprising of some brokers and fraud agents are engaged to fraudulent activities where thousands of Tripura students are victimized.”“Since last four years the brokers and fraud agents of R R Institute of Technology, Bangalore taking help from Minister Chowdhury and his panelled ‘C’ category college lists managing to play fraud with the students in the name of getting them admission in those colleges in return of hefty amount,” claimed Barman on Monday.Barman on Monday demanded for CBI probe on such illegal college admission business that has been rampant here in the state. Barman also said, “We have raised our voice not for any political motive but for the sake of the deprived students and in order to rescue student victims and their future'.

“Every year ample brokers and fraud agents engaged to enroll students in private or non-existant colleges, manages to take students from Tripura in exchange of hefty amount in the name of getting them admission,” claiming Barman said, in realty  it was found that those colleges are ‘C’ category and they are non-affiliated colleges.

He also claimed, “But the state govt. here has no report of it and neither had it done any registration of the colleges so far.” As a result the students of Tripura are getting victimised in the hand of fraud brokers and agents, Barman said.

He also said that those brokers and agents who come here in the state every year to admit students in the abroad colleges in the name of “A” category college mainly targets the rural students but very few students from the city, as a result their unsecure futures stops at one point of time.

Because the colleges were found having no affiliation or either their affiliation has been cancelled the students are getting deprived at large.

He said every year at least 2000 to 3000 students are going abroad for perusing higher studies, but are deprived at large at those abroad ‘C’ category colleges, where they do not have minimum accommodations and infrastructures for the students.

Barman also questioned how come the state govt. allows those colleges and its agents and brokers to advertise their so called ‘C’ category colleges in the TV Channels here? Adding to that Barman said, “Every year after they come here to take students in return of hefty amount from the guardians, the state govt. here plays its negligence role in regard of its registration in Govt.’s file.”

However, later talking to the newsmen here at Congress Bhawan said, “If the state govt. does not take any steps providing CBI probe in such rampant illegal business in the name of education that we would be bound to take it for granted that Manik Sarkar himself is engaged to it.”

Barman claimed that here in Tripura the students are being depried from quality education but the state govt. has been playing a negligence role.
