KHOWAI, May 30 (TIWN): Khowai police personnel on Thursday night at around 12 detained approximately 15kg of rubber sheet from Bolero Max Truck from Khowai Tath Chowmuhani area.

Sources said, on Wednesday night a group of thieves has stolen 900kg of rubber sheet from the house of Anakul Das, resident of Dhollaibill Village under Khowai Police station. However, the victim has filed a case with Khowai Police station. Accordingly, police personnel on Thursday morning went to the house of Anakul Das and investigated the spot.

Sources further said that, while patrolling on the roads near tath chowmuhani area police personnel grew suspicion on a vehicle and detained a Bolero Max Truck. After inspection police recovered nearly 15kg of rubber sheet from the vehicle which allegedly was stolen from the house of Anakul das on Wednesday night.

Police is suspecting that the stolen rubber were smuggle to Bangladesh through PohorMura, and due to certain reason some quantity of rubber is left out. The driver is identified as Krishna Das but unfortunately he manages to escape from the trap of the police.

However, police is further investigating the case.

Going by the crime statistics available with police, it seems that the area continues to be a hotspot for criminals and thieves. Cases of house-breaking and theft are increasing by day and night.

Despite tall claims made by the police the theft cases are rising high and the thieves are moving freely in the area and police is not taking any major action to cut this crime.
