AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): After the major victory in the recently concluded TTAADC Election, the CPI-M party now focuses its full attention of the recently declared upcoming Pratapgarh and Surma By-election. The party had not yet decided the name of the candidate for these two centers. It is learnt from party sources that the decision will likely to be taken in the meeting of the CPI-M in the coming days.

Sources also informed that in the Pratapgarh Constituency, name of the present Rajya Sabha M.P from Tripura, Jharna Das Baiduya will likely to be finalized. On the other hand, name of teachers Nityananda Das, Sambhu Namah, Bipadbandhu Rishi Das and Sunirmal Rishi Das are also included in the list.
While in the Surma Constituency, name of Sukanta Das is upgraded in the list. The CPIM party will scrutinize the name of the candidates and will select the proper candidate. It may be recall that the MLA of these two constituencies had breathed their last on February 9 and February 13 from prolonged illness.
Tripura state committee has asked its workers and supporters to plunge into action for yet another battle. Encouraged by this positive verdict of the urban population, the CPI (M) state committee urged upon its workers and supporters to leave no stone unturned in order to ensure victory in the ensuing Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Elections.
At the same time, the committee reiterated its call to the misguided youth still sticking to the wrong track of extremism, to realize the futility of their cause and evaluate the situation on the basis of their own experiences. The CPI (M) said that there is still scope to abjure arms, return to the peaceful democratic process and join the developmental activities.
Last but not the least; the Left Front highlighted the completed and ongoing developmental works under its government, creation of a healthy atmosphere in urban areas, Tripura's position on the scale of progress and people's empowerment. While the Left Front government is making sincere endeavors to provide more amenities to the urban people and generate jobs in spite of serious fund constraints, the anti-people policies pursued by the central government are having an adverse impact on the state.
