AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): Filing of another High Court case against the state Govt. is knocking at the door, as the Govt. has decided to recruit 39 Ward Secretaries in the various wards under Agartala Municipality Corporation. The whole process of recruitment of the 39 Ward Secretaries is under scanner as the recruitment process violated the general procedure of recruitment. For the 39 posts of Ward Secretaries advertised by the Agartala Municipality Corporation, more than thousand applications were received and the AMC decided to use interview process as the sole mode of selection procedure of the ward secretaries. Sources in the AMC says that the posts of Ward Secretaries were not getting the approval of the AMC commissioner for long as none of the previous commissioners were able to take the risk of facing the High Court as they reportedly found the complete recruitment process as unethical. Both the previous AMC commissioners Bikash Singh and Abhishek Singh were removed from the post of AMC Commissioners as they were not toeing the line of the CPI(M) bosses of Melarmath party office, claims a source in the Agartala Municipality Corporation.

It may be mentioned here that the Tripura High Court had ordered the cancellation of 10323 posts of Govt. School teachers after anomalies were found in the recruitment  process. The case is still pending in the Supreme Court.

According to the sources in the AMC, the recruitment letters of the 39 Ward Secretaries have already been dispatched through post.

“It is quiet understandable that the selection was done not on the basis of any recruitment process but on the basis of party affiliation of the CPI(M) cadres, claims the source.

The unemployed youths who had earlier applied for the posts of Ward Secretaries are preparing to file a case in the Tripura High Court challenging the recruitment process adopted by the AMC in selecting the Ward Secretaries. The youths allege that no proper interview was held on the dates of the interviews and the whole process of recruitment is suspicious compelling the applicants to file a case in the Tripura High Court seeking justice.  Close relatives of the CPI(M) leaders and whole time party workers were allegedly given appointment letters, allege the youths.
