Agricultural training centre remains non-functional, resentment brews among farmers

KHOWAI, May 21 (TIWN): Resentment brewed up among the farmers when a training centre at West Belcherra for the benefit of farmers built under the authority of left government slowly closed down, said sources.

Detailing to the issue, sources said that not a single farmer has visited the centre to get any kind of training from the day of inauguration till today. Gradually the training centre has turned to a place of gossip and passing time for the thugs and unwaged people.

The centre which was built to provide training to the farmers for the development in the agricultural sector of the area, today turned to an ineffective building of the area, said sources.  

“We could have gained knowledge about the better cultivation process, along with the skills of utilizing various improvised machines and methods. Rupees 6 lakh which was spent for the development of the agricultural sector of the area went into loss” said a farmer. Sources said that they also told about the massive loss to ADC Chief Executive Member Ranjit Debbarma but no response came up till today.

According to the sources report, the centre was built with the initiatives of Agricultural sector of the state government in Jan 21, 1999 spending around rupees 6 lakh which was inaugurated by ADC Chief Executive Member Ranjit Debbarma along with Chief Guest Radhacharan Debbarma.

It is further confirmed that Member of ward no. 5 Dayananda Debbarma, Member of ward no. 8 Bharati Shautar and Member of ward no. 9 Rita Debbarma said that the installation of the centre simply went to waste. The amount spent over this centre could be utilized in any other development project.

However,  till day no steps have been taken to rectify the situation. The stuffs which were there in the centre for the farmers have been stolen.
