AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): Special Camp regarding the enrollment of Aadhar card Number with the Voter Card will be held on May 17. The voters should also to be asked to furnish their Aadhaar Card numbers, e-mail IDs, mobile or landline phone numbers, etc., to be included in the electoral roll along with their names so that ‘double entries’ could be avoided.

The Election Commission of India, with the objective of preparing cent per cent error-free voters’ list, had launched National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) between March 1 and May 15. Voters’ names included at two or more places will be weeded out by entering Aadhaar number in the voters’ list. Moreover, all information regarding the voters will be connected either to the voters’ e-mail IDs or to their mobile phones.

Mainly the initiative was taken to create an error free voter lists which is targeted to end by June 30 this year. To remove the details of the fraudulent voters from their database, a new campaign for linking aadhaar card to voter ID card is being carried out. It is also being referred to EPIC­Aadhaar Seeding. Many cases of Voter ID card fraud have been reported in the country. It is difficult to find out such bogus voters and eliminate the details from the voter’s database. This whole process is being carried out under the NERPAP – National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme.

Besides telling the visiting Booth-Level Officers all these information, the voters could also text these details to ‘51969’ on downloading the mobile app or inform the details through the toll-free number of ‘1950.’
