AGARTALA, May 16 (TIWN): A massive poll debacle of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee under Birajit regime has at last pushed the national leaders of the party to set another re-organised party here in Tripura. All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary V Naraynswami on Saturday said, “The party here in Tripura needs to be re-organised with an aim to fight strong against the CPI-M and its Left front govt.”

After party’s back to back electoral debacles, Narayanswami holding a series of meetings with the party leaders across the state has landed here on Saturday with a big contingent of party leaders. AICC secretary Bhupen Bora, PCC president Birajit Sinha, CLP leader Sudip Roy Barman, MLA Gopal Roy and PCC working president Asish Saha were part of the party’s big contingent. Narauanswami wrapped up his visit to the state with a meeting on Saturday at Congress Bhawan with the much hyped congress leaders here.

AICC general secretary Nayaranswami after the meeting told media that the Congress has been fighting against the BJP on the various issue in Delhi but in Tripura party’s fight against the CPM would continue. On the party’s disastrous performance in the recently concluded ADC elections, he said, “the real entity of the poll debacle of the congress here is ‘lack of unity’, ‘lack of communication with the indigenous people of the state’, and other reasons.”

I had a meeting with party MLAs, leaders and heads of party’s frontal organizations to know the reasons behind party’s deplorable show in the ADC elections at Congress Bhavan in Agartala yesterday. I have asked the party’s rank and file to strengthen the organization keeping in mind of the by-elections to two Assembly segments and next year's civic elections", he said at a press conference.

On being asked if the party will support to CPM in the days to come, Narayanswami replied, "At the national stage, the Congress could extend issue based support to CPM but in Tripura, party's main enemy will be CPI-M".

He said, “If we could oust the CPI-M in Kerela, we can repeat the same in Tripura also and what matters to us is to be united sidelining all hurdles and differences.” He also cleared, “The party could not do well in this ADC poll due to the lack of unity among the party leaders.”

The faction riddled Congress has been facing serious crisis in organizational fronts since 2013 assembly election, which has further deepened after last Lok Sabha poll, but never eliminated from the country and still it is fighting for greater national and regional causes.

Criticizing Narendra Modi led NDA government at the Centre, Narayanswami alleged that BJP has been aiding communists in the country for many years and now CPI-M party and Manik Sarkar led government remains in the power despite series of scams only because of the blessings of BJP.

Narayanswami on Saturday cited that the three most burning scams that took place under the regime of Left front govt. here in Tripura are “Teachers’ appointment scam”, “Emp0loyment guarantee scam”, and the other “Chit fund scam”.

After the opposition congress faced a massive debacle in the recently concluded ADC poll Narayanswami had arrived here on May 14 on a three day visit and held a marathon meeting with the party MLAs, leaders and workers. He left the state on Saturday.
