Water treatment plant and housing at Radhanagar to be opened officially on May 20: Minister Manik Dey

AGARTALA, May 14 (TIWN): The water treatment plant constructed near Agartala Governor House under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNRUM) Project to connect a total of 11, 000 houses at the area readied to be launched officially on May 20. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar would on the plant, said Urban Development Minister Manik Dey.

Under the JNNRUM a total of two water treatment plants are constructed bby the state Urban Development Department at TRTC Complex area and the other located near Governor House.

Minister Manik Dey talking to the newsmen at the civil secretariat said that another water treatment plant located near the TRTC and Municipality Garage is likely to be opened soon. Adding to that he said that the plant which was constructed near Governor House that would connect 11, 000 houses would be inaugurated officially on May 20.

“We have already started the trial run of the plant near Governor House and would be functional soon,” Dey said.

Besides, on the sideline of another project work, Dey said that the housing project which would house a total of 128 slum families at Agartala Radhanagar would be opened up officially on May 25 by CM Manik Sarkar.

He said that the families had already allowed entering their respective rooms in the flats after the keys were provided to that through the procedure of lottery.

However the remaining 64 houses would be allocated with flats once the 120 flat owners move to the newly constructed flats at Rdahanagar.

The Municipal Corporation has been assigned for the completion of the work of construction of another flats at Joynagar which is also been proposed under the housing project. A total of 192 flats have been constructed with an aim to achieve a slum-free Tripura in phased manner.

Maintain the legal procedure the distribution of flats to their respective owners has already started and would be completed by June first week, said Dey.

The NBCC construction company is funding for the construction of these buildings.
