TIWN

KHOWAI, May 11 (TIWN): School teacher in Khowai district had adopted unfair means to achieve the post of Headmaster. However, the concerning authorities had called on the teacher to present the valid documents in support of their eligibility for the post of Headmaster.

Sources informed that, Subimal Debnath (Graduate) had applied for the post of teacher in Khowai’s Paharmura Higher Secondary School. According to the selection procedure, Subimal received the offer letter on April 4, 2007 and on August 1, the joining letter. The time calculated for the tenure of his service from 2007 to year 2014 is 6 years6 months.

In the meantime, on March 2014, Government had issued a notification that the teachers who had completed their tenure as teachers for 7 years, can apply for the post of headmasters. As, Subimal had not completed the tenure of seven years, He therefore, adopts a certificate of 6 months course  from Derozio Mission School and apply for the post of headmaster by adding 6 years 6 months with another six month.

When the matter attracts the attention of the concerning authorities, they had issued a notice to Mr. Debnath to produce before them with all valid documents on May 12. If everything seems to be correct, only then Subimal will apply for the post, or otherwise, legal steps also may be taken against him also.

It may be recalled that teachers’ role is very vital in molding the future of a country and, as such, it is considered the noblest profession. Teachers are the ideals to their pupils. An educational institute should not be just confined to teaching and learning but it should be considered as a place where consciousness is aroused and illumined; soul is purified and strengthened.

It is the place where the seeds of discipline, devotion and commitment are planted and fostered with deliberate efforts. But unfortunately, today the ‘personality’ of the teachers has deteriorated. The society now, accords a low status to teachers; this profession has been highly depleted and demoralized owing to certain evils that have crept in this noble profession such as castism, modernization, political influence, corruption and other unfair practices
