KHOWAI/AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): The bridge which was supposed to connect the two banks Laltila and Sonatala village of the Khowai River remain incomplete 2 years after the work commenced. Considering the demands of villagers of both Laltila and Sonatala village, the PWD lends their hand in constructing the bridge.

Owing to some land related problems, the bridge remained unaccomplished. The bridge is lying in a terrible state such that one needs an off-road vehicle to safely travel to and fro. The two villages are connected by bamboos by the side of the bridge.

The condition of the bridge is so poor that walking on it gives a terrifying experience. The condition of the bridge has become so deplorable that residents term it 'adventurous' if someone is found walking on them, especially after the dusk.

Resentment brewed among the villagers over such a deplorable condition of the bridge. If immediate initiative to construct the bridge is not taken, it would turn hazardous for commuters. Furthermore, the students have to face huge risk while crossing the bamboo made narrow bridge.

Despite of all such problems, administration is playing the role of mute spectators. Most of the rural areas in India do not have access to all weather roads and hence have a tough time during the monsoons. One of the striking underlying facts is the condition of the roads. Since roads indirectly contribute to the economic growth of the country it is extremely essential that the roads are well laid out and strong.
