AGARTALA, May 3 (TIWN): The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) issued complaints with the Election Commissioner for District Council against the ruling CPI-M for violating model code of conduct of election in wake of the ADC poll.IPFT President N C Debbarma on Saturday talking to the reporters here at Agartala Press club alleged, “The ruling CPI-M has been grossly violating the model code of conduct of election and are largely indulging in activities of Electoral offences in wake of the multi-cornered ADC poll.â€Debbarma also alleged that the CPI-M has been adopting corrupt practices. He said, “The party had crossed the ‘Laxman rekhas’ and are trying to influence the election to the TTAADC.†Debbarma coming down heavily on the statement of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar during election campaign said, “Sarkar while delivering his speech in his campaign had blatantly attacked the IPFT and its top functionaries including President, Chairman of the Party, etc. in a very bad taste language.â€The IPFT had issued a complaint the Election Commissioner for District Council on April 18.
Complaining against the ruling CPI-M IPFT alleged, “In the pick hour of election exercise CPI-M is utilizing their party mouth piece for propagating false allegations against IPFT carrying damaging and horrified news items inciting communal hatred and violence”, said Debbarma.
However later speaking to the newsmen on Saturday Debbarma further claimed, “CPI-M has owned multi-phased strategy carrying a media support to make an attack on the IPFT for the ADC poll.”
He later claimed that inspite of making complaint with the state election commissioner against the ruling CPI-M no necessary steps had been taken by the administration yet today.
However it is worthy to be mentioned here that the CPI-M alleged that tribal parties, especially the IPFT, were trying to polarise people along communal lines before the polls by intensifying their campaign in support of a separate state out of the council areas.
