AGARTALA, May 2 (TIWN): Despite tight security deployed for the ADC poll declared to be held on May 3, a section of NLFT backed IPFT workers were allegedly creating havoc in and around the ADC villages of the state. However this has now led a section of ADC voters in panic. Several villagers across the ADC areas of the state alleged, “Some IPFT workers are threatening us to vote for them.”The “Gundaraj” of Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) is gaining another momentum creating disturbances in the ADC areas ahead of the poll on May 3, on Sunday. The ADC voters were found sustaining their livelihood in terror like situation in wake of the poll.On Friday night at Khowai Ramchandraghat several villagers had alleged that a section of IPFT supporters are on a move to create disturbances across the area. Besides, the ADC voters from other areas of the state also alleged that the IPFT workers are threatening the villagers to vote for them.“Some IPFT youth supporters on their recent move had threatened us to vote for them in the ADC poll, and they also threatened that if we do not vote for them than they would kill us and would not allow us to live in the village.

”However,  most surprisingly on another issue IPFT President N C Debbarma on Saturday talking to TIWN accused the ruling CPI-M for making an attack on them on Friday evening.

Debbarma alleged, “After the election campaign ended on Friday evening a section of CPI-M supporters at Khowai managed to attack on our IPFT workers".

Yet such an incident in wake of the ADC poll and that too despite the deployment of huge security forces across the ADC areas of the state has now led the ADC voters in panic with the NLFT backed IPFT and its alleged disturbances across the state issued the ADC poll.

Several allegations were also raised against the IPFT party by the ruling CPI-M for trying to fan unrest in the State where ‘peace has returned after two decade long insurgency and ethnic turmoil’.

IPFT which is known as a hardliner party and often blamed for its alleged soft stance on extremist movements is clearly trying to woo the tribal society after years of political isolation. The party or its rival, Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT), an ally of Congress, hitherto failed to put any challenge to CPI-M in tribal areas.

However according to the police official,  a tight security vigilance have been deployed across the state to restrict any untoward incidents. It has also been learnt that the bordering areas of the state had already been sealed to restrict any kind of casual movement in wake of the poll.

The general election to TTAADC would be conducted on May 3 for 28 seats of ADC. The result will be declared on May 6.
