AGARTALA, April 22 (TIWN): In the upcoming TTAADC election 16 engineers from Electronic Corporation of India Ltd. will arrive the State within few days to instruct the commissioning of EVM Machine. However, the date scheduled for the commissioning of the machines is April 24th and continue upto 26th.
On the other hand, date for postal ballot will commence on April 27th to April 29th. On this tentative date, all the returning officers, security personnels will cast their vote. Despite that 21 company of forces will be deployed in the polling stations for peaceful casting of vote. Among them 10 company should be of CRPF and 11 company should be of BSF.
In North Tripura district, of 2 constituencies polling station will be 80, in 6 constituencies of Dhalai polling station will be 245, in 3 constituencies of Khowai polling station- 111, in 4 constituencies of West polling stations- 128, in 3 constituencies of Sepahijala polling stations -102, in 5 constituencies of Gomati polling station- 199 and in 3 constituencies of South Tripura polling station- 121. A total of 16 observers were recruited in 28 district council constituencies for the smooth conduct of the election.
It is to be mention here that the TTAADC election will be conducted on May 3 where 58, 554 voters including 3,75,117 women are eligible to exercise their franchise. Counting will be held on May 6,"
The TTAADC was formed in January 1982 under the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution and later its powers were promoted by amending the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution in August 1984 to protect and safeguard the political, economic and cultural interests of the tribals. The tribal council constitutes two third of the state territory and home to the tribals who form one third of the population.
