AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): Every year around 300 to 400 tribal peoples of rural areas of the state dies due to lack of health care infrastructure in the Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), claimed General Secretary of Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) Jagadish Debbarma on Thursday.
Interacting with the media persons at Krishnagar party office Jagadish Debbarma said that if we win the upcoming Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election we will revise the TTAADC bill, he mentioned. INPT also released their TTAADC election manifesto on Thursday. "Our main demands are direct funding by the Centre and uniform empowerment of the tribal councils. We also demand transfer of land rights and all departments to the tribal council, including the higher education department," he said.
He further added that in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election the main contest will be in between Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) and CPI (M).
The children’s of the (Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council) TTAADC are not getting proper education due to in- sufficient amount of teachers in the TTAADC schools, he added.
Most of the schools in (Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council) TTAADC are running without the School teachers. The CPI (M) led state government is only giving lectures in rallies and programmes regarding TTAADC development. But the reality is that the state government is not doing anything to solve the issue. Instead of doing anything the state government is busy in playing dirty politics. At present from minister to CPIM party workers remain deep necked in corruption, Debbarma added.
Jagadish Debbarma alleged that the uninterrupted 22-year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development.
“We are hopeful that the Union Minister is likely to introduce the empowerment to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) bill in the next parliament session”, said INPT General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma.
The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) was formed under Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution in 1987 to protect ad safeguard interest of people from the recognized tribal communities. The district council currently houses 19 indigenous communities. It covers 67 percent of the territorial area of the state.
