AGARTALA, April 11 (TIWN): Tripura rail police on Friday nabbed at least four pick-pockets from Agartala Chandrapur area, after a purse of a man named Sajal Banik was found stolen while he was travelling by a train from Agartala to Karimganj.
Acting on a tip off the rail police OC along with other police staffs rushed to Chandrapur area on Friday evening and nabbed the four pick-pockets. They were identified as Ajit Debnath (42) of Joynagar, Teliamura, Anjan Sarkar (36) s/o Lt. Kamal Sarkar of Indranagar Netaji Palli, Uttam Malakar, s/o Ranjit Malakar of Amtali near Ramkrishna Ashram and another Partha Das (28) s/o Narayan Das of Amtali near Bholagiri ashram.
According to the police on April 7 a purse of one Sajal Banik was stolen while he was travelling from Agartala to Karimganj by a train. The pick-pockets had stolen his ATM card also. Police said that they were having information about those 4 pick-pockets and they will arrive at Chandrapur from Mandai on Friday.
However later the police accordingly rushed to Chandrapur and nabbed those accused persons. Police also said that Rs. 24, 000 is recovered from those pick-pockets. They has withdrawn the cash amount from Agartala Mathchowmuhni UBI ATM counter.
Police official said during the investigation the accused disclosed the incident and confessed that they had stolen the purse and the ATM card of Sajal Banik.The accused persons were sent to the court on Saturday.
