Agartala, March 30 (TIWN): Task Force of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Tripura Police and traffic police jointly staged an eviction drive at Kaman Chowmuhani, Post Office chowhumani, Shakuntala Road and Mantribari Road here today.
During the eviction drive around 100 roadside hawkers were evicted. According to the Executive Engineer of Central Zone, of AMC, despite several prior notices, the hawkers continued to sell products on roadsides by capturing footpaths illegally. Earlier, many such eviction drives were conducted in the same area.
But paying no attention, the shop owners had been continuing to sell products on roadsides illegally. The AMC Task Force officer also told that the ongoing evacuation mission will continue everyday in other parts also as reduction sale has started.
In the coming days mission will continue, said the AMC official.Earlier, the AMC staged many eviction drives in the capital city including Battala, Paradise Chowmuhani, Kaman Chowmuhani and other places. During such drives, a vast number of roadside hawkers and illegally occupied shops were evicted in a recent past.
