TSR 6th battalion organized blood donation camp at Khowai

Khowai, March 30 (TIWN): Tripura State Rifles, 6th battalion on Monday organized blood donation camp at Ramchandraghat of Khowai. Around 50 TSR jawans had donated blood in the camp. Speaking at the occasion, Assistant Commandant of 6th Battalion, Shaibal Ghatak told that, “Every people of the State need blood in time of crisis.

"So, it is the duty of everyone to donate blood for this noble cause and every blood donor has contributed towards saving precious lives. I strongly believe and feel happy that I could also donate my blood formed out of food & water from the soil of the state".

” There is no alternative of blood. After every three months TSR organize this kind of camp to help the people of the state by donating their blood. He urged young people to generously donate blood to save lives- he further added, Besides that,  He also appreciated all the donors for their enthusiastic participation in this life saving endeavour.

Voluntary donors donated 92.72 percent of the required blood in 2012­2013; The figures rose to 98.67 percent in the last financial year, a source in the Tripura State Blood Transfusion Council (TSBTC) said later this. The source further said that barely 1 percent of the entire population eligible to donate blood in the state is currently involved in the voluntary blood donation movement.

According to National Aids Control Organization, only five states in India have the distinction of over 80% blood collection through voluntary donation against the national average of 55 to 60%. The states are Tripura, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Punjab and Maharashtra.
