AGARTALA, March 30 (TIWN): A high level delegation of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is likely to visit here in the state to access the ongoing progress of railway line expansion from Agartala to Udaipur. Besides, a serious allegation arose against a section of mafia for stealing construction materials. This has resulted the railway construction staffs to face several hurdles, alleged the railway site staffsHowever, it is mentionable here that the 70 km railway extension work from Udaipur to Sabroom is scheduled to be completed by 2018 while 44 km extension work from Agartala to Udaipur is scheduled to be completed by March 2016. The entire 70-km stretch would be constructed in broad-gauge format.The Ministry of Railways had given a total of Rs. 48 lakh to Department of education (Sub-Division I.S) for the purpose of shifting Bajra Bari S.B. School and to construct a new school under the south district. The Ministry of Railways has to demolish the school building for the railway line expansion.Tripura government has cleared the proposal for denotifying a 12.4 km stretch of land inside Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, removing a major obstacle for railway extension work in the state.
The move comes after receiving the approval of the Ministry of Environment and Forests for the same. Agartala will join the country’s BG rail network by March 2016 with the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) planning to undertake mega block from Karimganj to Agartala from October 1, official sources added.
Sources said the proposed mega block is supposed to take six months but the NFR aims to get it completed well before the stipulated time. Probably, the mega block work would be completed within four months since the NFR has already made good progress in rail track laying from Karimganj to Agartala.
