AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN): North East NSS festival 2014-15 would commence from March 27 with at least 350 representatives from 8 north eastern states will participates in the festival. The festival will be staged at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan and will continue till March 31. Minister of Youth Affairs informed this today holding a press conference at Agartala Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is scheduled to inaugurate the programme at Rabindra Bhawan on March 28 at 12:00 Noon. Besides, TTAADC CEM Ranjit Debbarma, Secretary, YAS Samarjit Bhowmik, NSS Officer-in-charge Regional Center, Guwahati Sunil Kumar Basumatary along with Minister of Youth Affairs of the state will also remain present in the inauguration programme at Rabindra Bhawan, said Minister Sahid Choudhuri today.
Talking to the reporters during the press conference at Agartala Bhagat Singh Yuva Abhas Minister Sahid Choudhuri informed that a total of 8 North Eastern states with 60 representatives from Assam, 24 from Arunachal Pradesh, 30 from Manipur, 24 from Sikkim, 24 from Meghalaya, 24 from Mizoram, 24 from Nagaland and 100 representatives from Tripura will participate in the festival that will commence from March 27. Besides, 10 representatives of NSS Officials from NE Region, 20 local volunteers, 10 local officials will also participate.
Chowdhuri said that an organizing committee consisting of 25 members along with 11 Nos. of Sub committees has been formed under the chairmanship of Minister Sahid Chowdhuri. He also informed that a colorful rally of the festival will be organized on March 28 at 10:30 am from the premises of Birchandra State Central Library and will cover the following route of Agartala. It is expected that a total of 1, 500 representatives along with the local volunteers will participate in the rally on the very day, said Chowdhuri.
However it is to be mentioned here that the central govt. has sanctioned Rs. 30, 37, 000 for organizing the NSS festival at Agartala. And out of the total sanctioned the NSS Regional Office has released 90% amount of Rs. 27, 33, 300 and the rest amount will be released after the submission of the Utilization Certificate of the programme.
