KHOWAI, March 21 (TIWN): Tension prevailed along the Indo-Bangla international bordering area at Khowai sub division on Friday following a fire caught along the border area in wake of the TTAADC election. The incident occurred on Friday after the concerned BSF Jawans went to attend a civic action programme organized by the BSF at the area. However, later the fire was brought under control by the BSF Jawans. Besides, the incident has triggered a huge resentment among the locals as well as set havoc at the area today.
The incident occurred at Poshchim Korangichera village area under Khowai Tulashikhar Block, after a massive fire along the Indo-Bangla border fencing area covering at least 1 km gutted the dry vegetation and cuased damage to barbed fence. The incident occurred after the concerned 83rd BSF battalion went to attend the civic action programme organized by the BSF at the area. The fire could be witnessed originated from the Bangladesh part in the name of cleaning the dry leaves along the fencing area.
However, the BSF commandant asked about the issue said that he is unaware of the fact. Though, later the fire was brought under control by the BSF Jawans. Whereas on the other, SDM Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury said that whoever was involved with it was not supposed to set fire to clean the dry leaves at the area as it was the bordering area between India and Bangladesh.
The locals in this regard had expressed their displeasure over the incident today as this has brought a major tense among them. The fire incident today that occurred along the fencing area must have paved an easy way for the smugglers and the illegal traders of both the country. Besides, such an incident ahead of the TTAADC election has of course triggered a huge resentment among the locals today
