Pre-poll and post-poll violence: Political parties seek strict security vigilance; CEO held meeting today; TTAADC election likely on May first week

AGARTALA, March 19 (TIWN): The political parties of the state today participated in the meeting chaired by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S.K.rakesh here at the civil secretariat demanded for enough security vigil to restrict pre-poll and post-poll violence during the TTAADC election drawing near. Different political parties today placing their own individual remarks about the fixation of the date of the TTAADC election said that the election can be conducted during the month of May first week. The ADC election result should be declared by May 10, while the new council should be framed by May 18, said CEO S.K. Rakesh today. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S.K. Rakesh on Thursday held meeting with all the parties of the state taking up the fixation of the date of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election and other related issues.Taking up the discussion today the several political party representatives who remained present during the meeting demanded for strict vigilance of security personnel along the Indo-Bangla international bordering ADC areas.The INPT representatives today appealed to the CEO S.K. Rakesh and the Election Commission to induct more protection during the vote counting days, as the very day often could be witnessed to be severely hit by the miscreants.

Besides, the congress representatives today during the meeting demanded for immediate action on the complaints if any political party of the state lodges following any kind of violence and other related issues during the election.

Congress representative Harekrishna Bhowmik claimed that sometime it is often being noticed that the police do not receive complaints against any violence that occurs during the election. Therefore he appealed the CEO today to look into the matter.

However, besides a section of political party representatives today during the meeting demanded for heavy patrolling along the Indo-Bangla bordering areas to restrict violence during the election.

On the sideline of the ADC date fixation issue, the political representatives today demanded to conduct the election during the first week of the month of May. While the CEO S.K. Rakesh said that on a legal notice that arrived recently with him said to declare the ADC election result by May 10, and the new council should be framed by May 18.

The BJP, INC, INPT, CPI (M), CPI, FB, and TMC representatives today participated in the meeting held at the civil secretariat.
