AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, March 16 (TIWN): The recent arrest of two Bangladeshi nationals with Indian documents in Agartala airport once again proved, Tripura is the corridor of illegal migration from Bangladesh to India where administration is playing a big role as facilitator leasing out security of the country.According to report, in 2014 alone as many as six Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Tripura with fake passport issued from India while more 27 illegal Bangladeshi were detained. In past two and half months, three cases of fake Indian passport were reported to police and five illegal migrants of Bangladesh have been arrested in different parts of the state. Interestingly, none of the case has been followed up properly by the civil administration and police.Allegedly, a group of officials of different sub-divisional magistrate offices and district magistrate offices in Tripura are for running the passport racket for past few years with the patronize of ruling party in the state.

In 2013 assembly election, Election Commission of India (ECI) had deleted more than 1200 Bangladeshi names from electoral roll in different assembly constituencies of Tripura at the last moment.

“I am wondered how ECI and Ministry of External Affairs turn blind eyes on the accused officers of the civil administration. Illegal Bangladeshi in Northeastern states, West Bengal, Delhi, Haryana and Mumbai is the biggest issue for India now. But in case of Tripura and West Bengal state governments suspiciously silent and rather indirectly influencing the administration to allow infiltration just to raise vote bank,” alleged a senior official of the state government.

He however, stated that in several administrative meeting with the top bosses, the issue of illegal migration from Bangladesh and operation of fake passport rackets based in SDM and DM offices were raised but till date there is no enquiry instituted.

“It appears due to achieve political mileage; policy makers of the state are not interested to bust the fake passport rackets operated in Udaipur, Sonamura, Belonia, Bishalgarh, Agartala and Kailashahar. The administration is also now directly involved in providing all the primary documents for citizenship proof, which has become a danger for India’s internal security,” the official added.

Security personnel in Agartala Airport has arrested an Indian citizen involved in fake passport racket along with two Bangladeshi nationals three days ago while they were travelling to Kolkata by SpiceJet flight.

According to police, Kayes Mian (25) and Sourav Mian (24), the residents of Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh were travelling with fake Indian PAN Card and other documents to get International Passport from Kolkata, as Indian citizens.

Based on their statement, police arrested their co-traveler Subhankar Das (21), a resident of Bishalgarh sub-division of West Tripura from the airport who had managed all fake Indian documents for them and accompanying them to Kolkata to issue Indian passport in their favour.

Subhankar confessed to police that he had managed fake documents through Sepahijala district administration for the Bangladeshi nationals and he was accompanying them to Kolkata Regional Passport office to finalise their passport with all fake Indian documents.

Meanwhile, Gomuti district administration has yet to conclude the investigation of fake passport issued to a Bangladeshi national by Regional Passport office Kolkata based on the fake documents issued by district administration.

Police could not arrest any of the accused facilitated the Bangladeshi national to manage important documents like Permanent Resident Certificate, Voter ID, State Bank Passbook and a Ration Card for obtaining International passport even after three months.

One Mustak Miah of Khilpara village under R K Pur police station in Udaipur has informed District Magistrate Sonal Goel that he received a passport No M5692461 in his name with different photograph on January 24 last by post which he had never applied.

Goel asked SP Gomati Sankar Debnath for enquiry but nobody is arrested so far.

In January 2014, Maharashtra police team has arrested 49 –yrs old Mushayed Ali of Agartala from his residence, accused of issuing fake passport to many Bangladeshi nationals through Tripura administration.
