AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): “Fate of working class in Tripura in Present Scenario is not good enough” said INTUC All India President Dr. G. Sanjiv Reddy on Sunday at Rabindra Bhavan. Reddy was addressing the gathering at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan today. INTUC All India President Dr. G. Sanjiv Reddy criticized both the state and the central government for not paying right attention to the workers. He said in place of a retired person the companies are employing people under short contracts which is illegal. The organisation has to fight against it, said INTUC All India President. He alleged that the state workers are devoid of their payments, pension and gratuity. It is not a good scenario for Tripura’s industry, added the INTUC leader.

The uninterrupted 22 year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development, he alleged.

He criticized Tripura’s ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) led Left Front government for under-development and silence in the national politics over problems of the state. “Tripura had political stability for the past 2 decades. How come poverty is still rising and development is running at such slow pace?” he asked. He slammed the state government over its industrial policies.

Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) state president Dipak Kumar Roy alleged that the CPI (M) led state government was weakening the existing labour laws in the state.

“Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is trying to introduce the ‘Marwadi’ culture in his governance. He never took any initiative to hold talks with the labour unions ever since he assumed office”, he added.

“We will organize a massive protest against the anti-labour policies of the Manik-led State Government on August”, he added.
