AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): Expressing solidarity with the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh, Bar Council of Tripura on Saturday condemned gunning down of an advocate allegedly by a policeman in a court in Allahabad and called for a statewide boycott of courts by lawyers of all bars on March 16.
Senior Advocate Pijush Biswas said work will remain suspended in all the district courts on March 16 alleging thatWednesday's incident showed there was no security even inside the court premises for judges, advocates and litigants.
30-year-old advocate Nabi Ahmed was shot dead allegedly by sub-inspector Shailendra Singh inside the district court premises in Allahabad. The policeman still remains untraceable.
An FIR had been lodged at the Colonelganj police station in Allahabad by the deceased advocate's father, Mohd Shahid Siddiqui. Mr. Siddiqui was present at the spot along with his elder son Nafees when Nabi was shot at by Singh.
