Dr. Anup Dutta likely to be the first Chairman of Teacher Recruitment Board for conducting Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)

AGARTALA, March 14 (TIWN): Dr. Anup Dutta likely to become the first Chairman of the Teacher Recruitment Board. Earlier, The Tripura state government has adopted a new recruitment policy for recruitment of teachers in the schools of Tripura following the guidelines of National Council of Teachers’ Education (NCTE) and Right to Education (RTE) Act. According to the new recruitment policy, applying for a teacher’s post requires a candidate to pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).Along with TET, a candidate applying as a teacher for class I-V must obtain 50 percent marks in senior secondary or equivalent and 2 years diploma in elementary education. It is to be mention that presently Dr. Dutta is performing his duty as the Principal of Amarpur College.

But the anxiety arises in the question that whether the eligible candidates would be available for the post of teachers through Teacher eligibility Test (TET)? A section of people thinks that at the first procedure, some disturbances will appear, but with the passage of time, everything will go to be right. Whereas, according to the School Education Department, everything will goes right, in case of appointment of post graduate level teachers. But, some problem may be arising in case of under graduate level. Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, few days ago, in Secretariat had given green signal on the process of setting up of teacher recruitment board.

Earlier, after a long hiatus Tripura cabinet meeting decided to make Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) compulsory as per the National Council for Education and Training NCERT guidelines. Teacher Eligibility Test will be conducted with a total of 150 marks, where a candidate have to score at least 60% and the recruitment under the TET will be done on merit basis, The state govt. has decided to make the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) compulsory for the recruitment of the teachers in future. According to the NCERT guidelines the TET examination will be conducted with a total of 150 marks and one have to secure 60% marks. Recruitment of the candidates in teacher’s posts under the TET will be done on merit basis.

Under the teacher recruitment policy of the state govt. one needs to be class XII passed with 50% marks along with 2 years diploma in Elementary Education (EE) for Class 1 to 5. And 5% relaxation for the SC/ST and Physically Handicapped candidates. For Class 6 to 8, one have to be graduate with a minimum of 50% marks with 2 years diploma in EE and 5% relaxation for the SC/ST and PH candidates, In this matter, there is no need to appear for TET for Class 9 to 10 and for Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha”, Other than that as per the NCERT guidelines one have to have a qualification of B.Ed. for class 9 to 10. And for Sharba Shiksha TET is compulsory. The Government will most probably frame new education policy from 2015 and will conduct Continuous Compressive Examination.
