AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): OBC Joutha Andalon Mancha on Wednesday stages four hours mass sit-in – demonstration at Orient Chowhumani on demand of passing bill according to section 31 C of the constitution at assembly for introducing reservation for OBC.
Earlier, in a press release joint coordinator of OJAM Naresh Chandra Dutta said that the organization submitted a memorandum to the minister of OBC Welfare department Bijita Nath on the above demands before 3 months. But the government has no positive Besides OJAM requested Governor P.B. Achariya to take appropriate steps to fulfill their demands after meeting with him two days. Moreover the Mancha submitted memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Social Justice T.C. Gehalot in Delhi. It is mentionable that Mancha has been conducting agitation for proportional reservation for OBC, to give complete formation OBC department, OBC stipend, loan etc. On the other hand the negative attitude of the state government is prevailing to provide right for OBC. He further alleged that the main political parties had no positive role in Loksabha and Panchayat Poll. So he appealed people belong to OBC section join in the agitation irrespective of political ideology.
The demands submitted by the Mancha are stated below:
1. Passing bill according to section 31 C of the constitution at assembly for introducing reservation for OBC.
2. Correct Statistics of OBC should be focused
3. Infrastructure of OBC Welfare department should be developed. To launch branch of OBC department in every sub-divisions.
4. To delete the word, “Other than Jom” from OBC Certificate.
5. To implement the stipend scheme regularly to the OBC Students.
6. 27 percent reservation of OBC in Tripura (Central) University, NIIT and ONGC.
7. To construct “OBC Development Council.
