Though Government and AMC, had earlier notice the illegal authorities to get rid of this places, but they turned a deaf ear to the plea. Getting fed up of this, recently AMC had started eviction drive. Task Force of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Tripura Police jointly staged an eviction drive at Kaman Chowmuhani, Melarmath, Paradise Chowmuhani and Post Office Chowmuhani. During the eviction drive around 200 roadside hawkers were evicted. According to an AMC Task Force officer, despite several prior notices, the hawkers continued to sell products on roadsides by capturing footpaths illegally. Earlier, many such eviction drives were conducted in the same area. But paying no attention, the shop owners had been continuing to sell products on roadsides illegally.

The AMC Task Force officer also told that the ongoing evacuation mission will continue everyday in other parts also. Though no chaos took place over the issue but the traders raised question as where they would go. We are doing business for the last 5 years now the AMC is giving us a kind of notice, a shop owner said. In order to tackle any untoward situation, State Police and TSR were put to service into the area. In the coming days mission will continue, said Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dr Prafullajit Sinha. Earlier, the AMC staged many eviction drives in the capital city including Battala, Paradise Chowmohani, Kaman Chowmuhani and other places. During such drives, a vast number of roadside hawkers and illegally occupied shops were evicted in a recent past.
