AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): Tripura Tourism Dept. takes up plans and projects to be completed during 2015-16: Royal palaces to get new life.

 However the committee later gives a recommendation that the department is to continue its persuasion for the development of water fall at Sanaiya Reang Para under Durga Chowmuhni RD Block, Dhalai District and at Sardhu Karkari Village at Chindraipara, Barmura respectively for which project involving cost of Rs. 500.00 lakhs has been sent to the Addl. Secretary, Planning (P&C) department, while the draft concept note is under preparation. Beside, the rate of tourist lodge accommodation be made more affordable to ordinary people by segregating facilities thereof in a part.

Renovation and retrofitting of Neermahal at Melagarh, destination development of Chabimura, construction gate of Neermahal and other components, destination development of Old Agartala Royal Palace, purchase of vehicles for package tours, maintenance and up-gradation of tourist lodges and other are taken up by the department recently that is to be completed by the financial year 2015-16. However, though the retrofitting work of the Neermahal is under process now.

Beside, it is memtionable here that the rock murals at Chabimura are all set to get a new lease of live with the forest department making efforts to transform it into a most attractive eco tourism destination. Chabimura, barely a 7 km drive from Amarpur town has enormous murals on the bank of river Gumati, the longest river in the state. Keeping in mind of its unique beauty, the forest department unfolded an ambitious plan to make it an ideal eco tourism destination. As part of the plan, two water jetties would be established at Chabimura and Maharanipur so that tourist could enjoy boating on the river. Besides, a landscape development project has already been initiated at Chabimura to attract domestic as well as foreign tourists.
