The draft electoral rolls for 28 District Council constituencies have been published recently paving the way for preparation final electoral rolls, a step forward of holding elections to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The elections to TTAADC are scheduled to be held in May next. According to the draft electoral rolls, the number of voters stands at 7, 60,133 in all the 60 District Council constituencies. Of the total electorates, male voters are 3, 84,886 while female voters are 3, 75,747.

Keeping in mind of the upcoming tribal council elections, political parties have also stepped activities to prepare the ground for the elections. While the ruling CPM looks set to the front runner for retaining TTAADC once again, two tribal based political parties- INPT and TPFT have been trying to win the elections at any cost. However, political arithmetic for the upcoming ADC elections is expected to get a new twist if the INPT joins hand with its old friend-IPFT. But many INPT leaders are against forging political understanding with IPFT for its strong anti-Bengali sentiment
