 Belonia murder case: Accused sent to 5 day police remand

BELONIA, March 9 (TIWN): Police on Sunday produced Kanchan Vhil (25) the main accused behind the murder of Konika Karmakar Vhil before the Belonia Court, here today. The court sent Kanchan Vhil to 5 days of police remand.

According to sources, during interrogation Kanchan Vhil admitted that he had killed Konika Karmakar Vhil (32) resident of Chandrapur area on March 2. After interrogation police visited the spot and found the Dao(Machette) which was used by Kanchan Vhil during the murder.

It is to be mentioned here that police recovered a dead body of middle aged women on Tuesday from Belonia Chandrapur area. Deep injury marks were been found on the body. The woman was identified as Konika Karmakar (Vhil) (32). She was a widow and a mother of three children. According to the report, Konika has lost her husband Anil Vhil since one and half years back. On Monday morning konika, resident of Belonia went to her in­law’s house at Belonia Chandrapur area. Konika was living her livelihood with her two children at a rented house since after her husband expired. However on Tuesday morning the locals of Belonia Chandrapur found her dead body lying on a nearby jungle. According to Konika’s in­law members, she went out from the house on Monday evening, but then she went missing. However, later getting an alarm the police along with a dog squad reached the spot and recovered the dead body of Konika Karmakar from the jungle. The incident has triggered a huge resentment among the locals.
