Agartala, March 8 (TIWN):Khumulwng, headquarter of Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council ( TTAADC) was once a hub and free zone of militants. With militants activities brought down to zero level in the state, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar assured that the TTAADC headquarter would be made a place of tourist attraction.

Accordingly, development activities was undertaken to give a new look of the area. The roads leading to Khumulwng was renovated and expanded, a beautiful park  now a famous picnic spot of the state, mutli storied buildings was constructed for several  offices and staffs of TTAADC. There is a 50 – bedded hospital, water treatment plant for supplying safe drinking water round the clock.

Gradually people started settling in the area and density of population increased. Peace and amity prevailed in the area, alongside with development activities Khumulwng is witnessing the rise of anti – socials elements and miscreants. They  are first  taking the reins of TTAADC headquarter in their grasp.   There prevails no rule of law.

The situation is as such that people fear to come out of their houses after sun set, reportedly  due  to  the miscreants and anti social elements.  There is one police station in Khumwlwng, but only in name. The police station lacks manpower.

Few months back chief executive member of TTAADC Ranjit Debbarma shifted permanently at the headquater. The people hoped that there will be end of the rule of anti social elements. They reportedly handed over a list of names and addresses but no remedial measures were taken by CEM till date.

As TTAADC poll is inching in, the anti social and miscreants have started flexing their muscles. Different political parties are also trying to use them to woo the voters.
