Belonia, March 7 (TIWN): A case of attempted molestation on girl was registered at Belonia police station in South Tripura District. According to the case filed, it was stated that today at around 10.30a.m, Bijoy Rishi das (20) was passing through Belonia Vidhyapith Corner in fully drunken position at auto rickshaw. In nearby the corner, a school also prevailed. While passing, Bijoy tried to force a girl to put in the auto with the motive of molestation.

But his attempt proved to be failure. The girl immediately shouted and the passers-by along with the locals rushed to the spot and beat soundly him. After that a case was lodged at Belonia Police Station.  On the basis of the complaint, police had arrested Bijoy.

This incident again proved that molestation of women and girls in the State Government Offices is increasing with a rapid speed. While so-called Mr. Clean CM proudly announces that womens are sent percent safe in the State, but the figure reveals another sketch. Women’s are not at all safe in Government offices also. In a recent data established in the Assembly, it is seen that about seven cases are recorded in different offices. But most surprisingly, jurisdiction is being held of two people only.

In recent Tripura, along with rape, dowry death and murder after rape, Tripura is becoming no 1 state in case of molestation also. Though, in some cases, opposition tried to defame the character of a person, made a dramatic sequence of molestation, but on the other hand, the case is true enough.

Data released by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) also tell that every second day a woman is raped in Tripura (as of 2012) with the figure of202 rape cases in 2012 alone. Though the number has seen a downfall from 258 in 2011 but during the period from 2001 to 2012, this number is seventh most worst. The year which had least rape cases during the said period is 2003 with 135. Along with that, the atrocities on the women folk in the names of kidnapping and abduction is numbered as 120 in 2012 with a rising trend as 106 in 2010 and 113 in 2011.
