Tripura Govt. road map to implement several schemes under Urban Development during FY 2015-16: Employment opportunity under NULM

AGARTALA, March 7 (TIWN): On yet another ambitious plan of the Tripura government, more employment opportunities to be opened up under the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) during the Financial Year (FY) 2015-16.

 The NULM aims at reducing poverty of urban poor households by offering them avenues for self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities. It will also provide shelter equipped with essential services to the urban homeless in a phased manner. It is designed to address the livelihood concerns of urban street vendors by earmarking suitable spaces, institutional credit, social security and skills to them.

During the year 2013, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) gave its approval for restructuring the centrally-sponsored scheme of Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana in the 12th Plan as the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) and the implementation of Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY). However as part of this the Tripura govt. has taken up the scheme to be implemented here at the state during the FY 2015-16. Besides, the govt. has also taken up certain plans and programmes for the implementation of several schemes comprising of implementation of Rajiv Awas Yojna (RAY) for providing housing to slum dwellers, improvement of existing Agartala Nagerjala Bus Terminus, and others.

However besides, the govt. has also taken a plan to necessary steps against unauthorized occupants in the road side in AMC and other towns in the state. Detailed project report for establishment of a modern slaughter house also to be taken up during the FY 2015-16.

However, besides the Tripura Urban Employment Programme (TUEP) is under implementation  to provide work to the listed BPL families in Agartala Municiapl Corporation (AMC), 10 Municipal Councils, 9 Nagar Panchayat.
