State Govt fails to achieve the target of due tax collection : Total loss of nearly Rs. 11 crore in 2013 and 37 crores in 2014

AGARTALA, March 6 (TIWN): State Government failed to achieve the collection of target tax in the year 2013-14 and 2014-15. A loss of 11 crore and 37 crore was witnessed in the mentioned consecutive years. This results to the quantity of tax defaulters to 1,368 persons. The total tax collected by the Government limits to 1073.91 crores. Whereas in the year 2014-15, though the total estimates is scheduled to 1278.37 crore, but the actual figure reveals out to be 1241.00 crore. Though there is one month left for the financial year, but still it is not possible to settle down 37 crore rupees.Despite Government’s big claims on tax collection, no fruitful steps were taken to increase revenue.

With the aim of improving efficiency, ensure transparency and making it business friendly, the State had implemented “Mission Mode Project for Computerization of Tax Administration(MMPCT’) at a project cost of Rs 730.41 lakhs. Through e-payment, approximately Rs 192.60 crore has been realized during the year 2014-15. E-Services have been proved to be a transparent, user friendly, hassle-free means to the business community. But no positive attitude comes out of it.

In the Revised Estimates of 2014-15, the State’s Own Tax and Non-Tax revenue has been projected at Rs 1241.00 crore and Rs 22.90 crore respectively. In the budget Estimates of 2014-15, the targets for collection of State’s Own Tax and Non-Tax revenue were Rs 1278.37 crore and Rs 290.00 crore.

Due to these many development works are hampered which can lead The State into a flourishing development. But Inspite of taking proper steps against this, he CPIM government is unwilling to act against the scam, CPIM government has completely failed to check rise in prices of essential commodities.

At present from minister to CPIM party workers remain deep necked in corruption. CPIM government over issues of spurious ­drug, atrocities against women, corruption, malfunctioning of PDS, chit fund, deterioration of law and order, underdevelopment of tribal people and deprivation of employees during the agitation. The tight­lipped gesture of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar over the increasing crimes and vowed to intensify party’s agitation across the state.

He also urged the public to condemn the role of Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio. The uninterrupted 21­year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development.
