AGARTALA, March 6 (TIWN): Indian Dental Association (IDA) Tripura State Chapter organized a programme to observe International Dentist day, 2015 at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGM), here today. Minister for Health Badal Choudhury inaugurated the programme.
Speaking in the inaugural ceremony Minister for Health Badal Choudhury said that the day is observed every year to raise awareness about dental health. On this day the Indian Dentists Association (IDA) organizes Continuing Medical Education (CME), seminars and workshops to update the dentists about the various developmental programmes, which is aimed towards improving the dental health, Badal said.
The dentist is not the person that most of us look forward to seeing. However, when the work is complete, such as: our checkup is done, our teeth are cleaned, the cavities are filled, the broken tooth is fixed, the toothache is taken care of and etc., we really appreciate what the dentist has done for us, the minister added.
Apart from the Dentist Day, the world also observes World Oral Health Day on 20 March every year. The day is celebrated to highlight the benefits of a healthy mouth and to promote awareness of the issues across the world.
