Multi-crore MGNREGA scam: Home Department knocks HC’s door touching lower court’s framed time for submission of complete charge-sheet

AGARTALA, March 5 (TIWN): Keeping the lower court’s direction in mind, while the investigation team of multi-crore MGNREGA scam case is on hurry to submit the complete charge-sheet at earliest, at the same time the Home Department knocked the High Court’s door touching the lower court’s order, said a top official of police department, here today.After the submission of 1350-page partial charge-sheet into multi-crore MGNREGA scam of Bishalghar RD Block on January 16, the Additional District and Session Court, West directed the investigation officer to prepare and tender the complete charge-sheet within two months, said the official source. According to the official, it is not possible to submit the complete charge-sheet within the framed time as more two FIR named accused persons of this case are still at large.

 On the other hand, the investigation team has been facing several problems in course of verify the information given by the accused persons including scamster Bimal Chakraborty during the interrogation, the source added.

Giving some examples on this kind of case including RMSA scam, the police official further stated that it is not necessary to submit complete charge-sheet within any framed time since its s documentary case. Therefore, the Home Department moved to the High Court of Tripura against the order of lower court, he added.

“We have received vital information about Mita Malakar (Junior Engineer), who might have fled away from the state after the scam came into limelight. We cannot reveal more information on Mita in course of further investigation”, the official added.

Asked about Debprasad Nandi (GRS) who involved in this scam, “Police are relentlessly working to bring Debprasad Nandi in homeland from Bangladesh as soon as possible and sought assistance from 158 Bn BSF in this regard. In reference, 158 Bn BSF is likely to hold a flag-meeting with Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) after March 15 within this month”, said the official.

The 9 FIR named arrested or surrendered persons into massive financial irregularities in Bishalghar RD Block are; Chayan Nandi (Technical Assistant), Kishore Banik (Technical Assistant), Nibash Pal (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Partha Sarkar (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Goutam Pal (Junior Technician), Shayamal Debbarma (GRS), Sarada Debbarma (GRS) and Subir Ukil (Work Assistant) and kingpin Bimal Chakraborty.
