KAILASAHAR, March 5 (TIWN): Acting on information given by the Tripura Police, the Assam Police on Wednesday recovered a stolen car from Assam Bazarimura area. According to the police the car was stolen by some inter-state smugglers after the murder of one Selim Mia (32) at river Manu at Khowai on February 8. Police recovered the body of Selim on February 10.

Selim along with his car reported to be went missing on February 8. His shoes and t-shirt were mysteriously recovered at Chontel adjacent to River Manu, last evening. Primarily police could not recover the alto car bearing number TR-01-G-0252. Failing to trace Selim, his father Benu Miah lodged a missing diary at the Kumarghat police station. Earlier Police suspected that Selim Mia was murdered due to dispute on property between Selim’s father Benu Mia and another Maya Mia, a relative of Benu Mia.

However, later the Tripura police following the murder of Selim Mia and his lost car passed an order to the neighbouring states like Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya. Following which the Assam Police managed to detain the lost vehicle bearing number TR-01-G-0252. Police said the smugglers who had stolen the vehicle had changed the car number at Assam.
